There is so much being said about John McCain’s choice of a running mate; far be it from me to attempt to pile any more wisdom upon that. I will just take a slightly off-kilter cheap shot at something Sarah Palin said in her introductory comments:

Well, it’s always, though, safer in politics to avoid risk, to just kind of go
along with the status quo. But I didn’t get into government to do the safe and
easy things. A ship in harbor is safe, but that’s not why the ship is
(emphasis mine)

“A ship in harbor is safe…”
Um, Sarah?

I could stretch this out with some more recent metaphorical ‘ships,’ but risky and irony-deaf metaphors ain’t my bag, baby.
