THE TRUTH IS OFTEN SO INCONVENIENT…

…That’s why it is good to check in regularly with people like Professor Juan Cole:

So, I have a suggestion for my readers. Every time you see a newspaper article that alleges that Ahmadinejad said that Israel should be wiped off the face of the map, please write the editor. Say that this idiom does not exist in Persian, and that what Ahmadinejad actually said was, “This occupation regime over Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time.” And you can cite me.

Now why, pray tell, would our corporate media insist on spreading such a slanderous and inflammatory bit of rhetoric? (I admit that I had taken the quote at face value, though I imputed it with little, if any, importance.)

The media twist words to gain support for their asinine positions

media = lazy (I suspect 1 person made the wrong translation, and everyone copied it)

Beyond being lazy the media presents a version of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that is more sympathetic to the Israelis.
