For those of you who want something a bit lighter first– an intellectual aperitif, if you will– perhaps you can discuss the following: The Chicago White Sox, with relatively meager attendance numbers and a lineup without anything close to a .300 hitter, currently have the best record in North American baseball. Meanwhile, the Cubs, with an international fan base, eye-popping attendance numbers, and a lineup stacked with sluggers, are sliding toward Charlie Brown territory. Is it all about the pitching? Is it because the AL team is playing more like an NL team, and vice versa?
