I just got done watching an awful spectacle on CNN. Wolf Blitzer was ‘interviewing’ a White House mouthpiece/lackey named something like Wilkinson. Blitzer asked the dude about the Jose Padilla case. Among other things, he asked the suit if Padilla, a U.S. citizen, was entitled to be judged innocent until proven guilty (you know, one of the cornerstones of our supposedly enlightened legal system). The Bushie lackey completely avoided the question, going into a rambling diatribe in which he repeated one particular prescripted talking point (“you know, the Merrkin people don’t like that ‘enemy combatants’ are coming into the country trying to kill Merrkins…”) four times. Blitzer, though he asked a reasonable question, let the mouthpiece get away with avoiding it. Blitzer didn’t bother with a follow-up question. In effect, CNN was doing little more than offering the White House yet another forum for spouting its diversionary propaganda. I’d write more about this, but I need time to mentally digest the criminal stupidity of it all.
